Moone Boy is a six part semi-autobiographical series written by and starring Boyle native Chris O'Dowd. Filmed in his home town in January 2012 and also featuring animation from the studio that worked on 'The Book of Kells', the comedy will air on Sky in summer 2012.

The programme is centered around a young Roscommon boy, Martin Moone, his family and his imaginary friend, played by O'Dowd. It features a cast of local Irish talent as well as some guest appearances from the likes of Steve Coogan.

Moone Boy is set to be a hit at home and further afield. O'Dowd it seems has not forgotten his Roscommon roots despite his success and move to America, insisting on filming in Boyle.
